Mesbah Microsatellite: A Successful Joint Venture in Technology Development

Abstract
Know how transfer is one way to achieve technology development. A number of issues are involved in the process of know how transfer that makes it a successful one, including defining proper strategies, partnership, choosing appropriate process model, defining appropriate level of education and skills for the receiving party, etc. In the case of satellite technology, these issues are more important because of the special constraints involved therein.
The Mesbah Microsatellite technology development is an example of successful know how transfer experience and the present contributions describes the elements of this success.
Short Biography
Mr. Entezari obtained the BS degree in 1973 from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran and the MS degree in 1975 from the Electronic International Technological Institute, Eindhoven, Holland, both in electrical engineering.
During thirty years he had a rich career that includes the following:
- Researcher at the Materials and Energy Research Institute (1976-1980)
- Director of Iran Telecom Research Center (ITRC) during 1982-1993
- Deputy of Information and Innovation, Iran Organization of Science and Technology (IROST) during 1993-1995
- Deputy of Research and Technology, IROST, (1995-1997)
- Member of the Managing Board, Telecommunication Company of Iran, (1997-2001)
- Manager of Mesbah Satellite Project, ITRC/IROST, 2001-now
- Manager of Iran Scientific Data Network, IROST, 2001-now
Mr. Entezari also had collaborations in several international entities and is now a member of the Information for All Committee, UNESCO National Commission.
